Margaret Tiller Sherwood

President

Credentials: FCAS, FSA, MAAA, FCA, CPCU, ARM, ERMP, CERA

Not only does Margaret (she/her) have over 40 years of actuarial and writing experience, she is one of the most highly credentialed actuaries in the world with credentials and expertise in underwriting, risk management, and enterprise risk management, as well as in the actuarial field. She has an MS in Statistics from Stanford University and both a BA (cum laude) and MA in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University. She has served on industry task forces, such as the one that wrote GASB Statement 10. Margaret is an active volunteer and is a Past President of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and the first woman to be the Chair of the International Association of Consulting Actuaries. 

Margaret currently serves on the Actuarial Standards Board Casualty Committee in the United States and on the International Actuarial Association’s Actuarial Standards Committee. She also has written material that has appeared on the Casualty Actuarial Society syllabus, in Foundations of Casualty Actuarial Science, and in the International Actuarial Association’s Risk Book, as well as in professional magazines and journals. To date, Margaret is the only actuary to be featured in an article that appeared in The Journal of Commerce series about people who make a difference.

In her free time, Margaret enjoys fiction writing, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her husband, six grown children, and many cats and dogs. She also plays piano, sings, dances, acts, and occasionally can be found onstage.

Holley R. Rouse

Actuarial Analyst & Account Manager


Holley (she/her) is an excellent problem solver and writer. She has credit for the VEE’s, the two online courses, and three preliminary examinations of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Holley has a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory and the equivalent of a minor in Math from Furman University. 

Holley also audits and advises gourmet restaurants on complex bookkeeping issues and is a professional singer on weekends. She has previously worked as a billing specialist in a medical office, creating medical billing and accounting procedures and written procedures manuals for medical billing and accounting.

In her spare time, Holley enjoys fostering doggos, baking, reading, petting her old hound dog, Winnie, and being forced to play with her cat, Calypso.

Finn Sherwood

Office Cat

Credentials: Certified Seat Warmer, Maximum Floof

Finn (he/him) is the pack leader for the Sherwood cats but still makes time to fulfill his duties as the office cat. He specializes in chair warming, knocking over trash cans, lying on what we are working on, and typing. Finn also loves to participate in video calls.
